Tickets to the New Year’s Eve party at New York City’s Renaissance Hotel are going for as much as $18,000 for four guests. But the view and the ambiance will be worth it – thanks, in part, to an audio system upgrade by JD Systems.

How does an audio system upgradeaffect the view in a venue?

We don’t want to sound like we’re bragging, but yes, we’re a little bit proud, and very grateful, that our Staten Island-based audio video integration firm was chosen to revamp the audio systems in the main event room of the Renaissance Hotel in Times Square, where VIPs and celebs from across the world will gather to ring in the New Year out of the cold.

The managers of this premier hotel, located at 2 Times Square and situated directly across from the site of the New Year’s Eve ball drop, called us during a major renovation of the event room earlier this year. A large bar blocked the view the everyday excitement of Times Square… not to mention the famous New Year’s Eve ball dropping. But moving the bar wasn’t as easy as it might sound. It also meant moving an equipment rack and re-running the necessary wiring for the audio video systems. That’s where JD Systems came in.

Renaissance Hotel Audio Video Installation

Rather than just re-positioning the rack, we evaluated the sound in the space. The venue had high-quality speakers, but they weren’t producing the sound clarity and fidelity necessary in such a high-end space. (When you’re charging $1,500 and up, per person, for a party, every single element has to be perfect!)

We found the solution in Crown XTI amplifiers to power the TurboSound surface mount speaker cabinets, and a BSS BLU Soundweb processor. We re-used the existing JBL Control 26CT ceiling speakers, and routed it all through the BLU-100 for the ultimate in EQ and control.

At JD Systems, we specify the components that are right for the job.

We try to remain brand-agnostic, sometimes looking beyond the brands we normally carry to find the best fit. We didn’t have to look far to find the solution for New York’s Renaissance Hotel. The Harman family of components – Crown XTI amps and BSS processing – delivered, breathing new life into speakers that didn’t need replacing, only the right power and processing behind them.

At JD Systems, we’ll keep our New Year’s Eve celebration closer to home with our families, but we hope that everyone at the Renaissance enjoys the experience and the ambiance. When they don’t have to shout to order a drink, and they hear the performances from the year’s hottest stars as if they were standing at street level, they might never know who’s behind the crystal clear sound, and that’s okay. It’s enough that we know… and now you do, too.
